This is a very rare sniper smock issued to snipers and others in the East German Army (NVA), which existed in the German Democratic Republic, commonly known as "East Germany", which was created during the Cold War after the end of WWII. It has a design common to anoraks and sniper smocks of the WWII German era, but with modifications unique to the East German Army. The hood has fittings to secure it to a helmet and contains a net that is effective as a sniper veil or mosquito net. Because of its floral camouflage, it has various common names, such as Blumen or Kartoffelmuster (potato camouflage). The correct name is Flächentarn (regional camouflage), but it is widely known as Blumentern.

The smock shown here has a slightly darker color due to its anti-gas treatment. The texture has a slightly waxy feel to it, but the fabric is smooth with age. Although it is in almost unused condition, there are black stains in several places. The buttons are not missing any accessories. It is in very good condition and can still be enjoyed. From the stamp inside, you can tell it was made in 1962.

This is a used item and cannot be returned. Please understand.
