These black pajamas were cut in South Vietnam and manufactured in Okinawa in the 1960s. Black pajamas were widely used in Vietnam, and were worn by farmers and other workers. The cut was slightly different between the south and the north, and this jacket is from the south with three pockets and sleeves that are not raglan sleeves. It is made sturdier due to the width of the shoulders. Furthermore, this shirt was manufactured and issued by the Counter-Insurgency Support Office (CISO) that existed in Okinawa. This type of clothing was used to disguise oneself as a farmer for the purpose of distraction in operations of the time. One of the reasons this shirt was made in Okinawa is the size tag. One of the reasons is the size tag. Normally, this shirt does not have a size tag like the one on this shirt, but the same Japanese-made tag used for the Tiger Stripe is sewn on the shirt. This is a great top and bottom set that is typical of the Vietnam War, intended to supply local soldiers and U.S. Special Forces personnel. One disappointment is that the backside of the shirt is missing some of the intent on the back side of the front fit. Other than that, it is in excellent condition with no stains or tears. As is characteristic of black pajamas, the pants are probably only one size and very large. They are made for ease of movement in hot areas. They will be treated as used items and cannot be returned. Please understand.
